In Los Angeles - it seems like people just don't get it. When 9/11 happened everyone was in shock people were concerned. Where are these people now? I have friends who seem like they could care less. People at work wonder why I am upset!
THIS IS NOT JUST A NEW ORLEANS PROBLEM! Or a poor person problem in the south. This is an American Crisis which is affecting our whole nation! 9/11 was horriffic and affected thousands. However, Katrina pales it in comparision and it is undeniably the worst catastrophe in recent history. It will affect all of us from from farm products, gas and basic needs! People need to get their heads out of their asses shut off their Xboxes and get out there help volunteer and give!

I just don't know what to say. The situation in New Orleans is just unbelievable. New Orleans is not like any city I have ever been to. It's Culture, music and food was unbeatable. I really hope that it can rebuild itself and come back stronger.

My wedding was set to be there next April. Now my fiance and I have to start from scratch. However, thats nothing compared to the thousands who have lost everything. Three days later we are still trying to get ahold of friends to see if they are ok. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the people who are suffering and trying to get out of the city. I feel helpless.... even though I live in Los Angeles I think I will call red cross to see if they have any operations that they need help for in Los Angeles. Maybe they will be shipping meals and clothes out.

In the meantime here a few links to help pass info along to the rest of the world.

"Flowers Are Forever " - Short Film
Internet Premiere!

Ok - I know, I know the blinking lights are cheesy but I thought it was appropriate for this post. You see its the Internet premiere of my first attempt at filmaking. This was made back Boston in 1996. It hasn't seen the light of day since! (And for good reason) All we had to work with was a super 8mm camera. At the time my thinking was I didn't want to shoot around my dorm room. So, why not have some fun and try to re-create a silent picture. I also saw it was fitting to premiere "Flowers Are Forever" because just like vlogging, Silent films were the beginning of something great!

Congo Kids create and fund their city's first Orchestra. Giving locals hope and wonder! While across the Ocean, Mariah Carey campaigns to save music and culture for our own children in United States. The richest country in the world!

Because of Recent budget cuts. Many states have put many music education programs at risk. From Providence to Portland, communities have reduced or eliminated public school music programs. This is occurring in spite of the growing body of research that documents the benefits of music education and some overwhelming public support. An astounding 95 percent of Americans believe that music is a key component in a child’s well-rounded education, according to a 2003 Gallup Survey. (CBS News)
